One of my favorite times with you, is when you are falling asleep for the night in my arms. You like to cuddle into my arms, chest or neck depending on where we are sitting. You are so at ease, calm and peaceful. Sometimes I will still hold you for an hour, just because I don’t want to put you down in your crib. Some may say we are spoiling you, but we are just enjoying every minute with you. Then many times before I go to bed I quietly tip toe into your room, trying not to make the gate clang, just so I can watch you sleeping. Last night you stirred around, actually sat up sucking on the corner of your blanket, but did not turn to see that I was watching you. Then you just laid down and went back to sleep.

We met Ali and Matt for lunch on Saturday. You seemed curious about Ali, and she and Matt both held you briefly without any crying. Other then that rather un-eventful. We ended up paying as usual. Saturday night, Mike, Ty & Sophie came over for dinner. You played a bit with Mike & Sophie. We got a few more details about Ava. Just a few errands to Menards, Kohl’s & Fleet Farm on Sunday. Nothing else exciting. Today is picture day at school, and should be happening about right now.

Storm

We had our adoption group meeting yesterday evening. We went to Big Bowl at RoseDale Mall. Halfway thru dinner we had to evacuate to the basement for a tornado warning. About 5 minutes later we were able to return to the restaurant. The drive home was slow because of the rain and many stop lights being out. Today there were many trees down in the neighborhood, roof & siding damage on many homes in the neighborhood, but we faired well, with 2 trees leaning slightly and some plant leaves shredded.

We had a rather quiet weekend. Brody came over Friday night for a few hours. We picked flowers, fed the fish, rode bike and made it to the dairy queen. You were very happy this morning, so you must be getting over the ear infection, even though you are still pulling on your right ear.
Ear Infection

Been an OK week for you, have been a little out of sorts for a few days, runny nose and sounding hoarse. Daddy took you to the doctor on Wed and it turns out you have a ear infection, worse then those in past. But you are already feeling better. Brody is coming over tonight to play while your sister Lisa and Dave go to the Twins game.

Today you met your half brother Christopher at the iARC picnic. You had fun watching him on the monkey bars and laughed as he climbed them. You also thought his little brother AJ was also funny. You were a trooper for a hot picnic afternoon. You even played a bit with Dave & Andrea and Dave & Chris.

Self Feeding

You grabbed the spoon last night and tried to feed yourself. I am sure you will have that mastered in a few days.
Changing

You continue to change every day. Starting to not care for baby food anymore and tend to spit after just a few spoonfuls. But you do like peaches, green beans, raisins, cheerios, ice cream and dinosaur Ritz crackers. Your head is starting to change from baby round to a bit more oblong and you now have a neck, no more spaces for milk to hide in. You are almost always happy and when you cry it is only briefly.
Grandmas

We just got back from a long road trip. Left home on Wed evening and got as far as Grandma & Grandpa’s place on the lake. Thursday morning we went to Aunt & Uncle Gaylene & Randy’s for lunch of fresh sweet corn and chicken on the grill. You tried raspberry desert and really liked it. Later that afternoon we arrived in Ashley where we spent time with both Great Grandmas and Aunt Mavis. We visited Great Grandpa’s farm and spent a lot of time watching hurricane Katrina on CNN. As has been the case lately you were a bit shy with people you don’t know or haven’t seen recently. We headed for home on Saturday, spending the night at the lake and got back home on Sunday. You were darling the whole trip and slept most of the time we were in the car.
