Camping with your cousins

You got to go camping with your cousins Sarah & Hannah this weekend. Actually grandpa & grandma brought them and they all slept in a tent on the ground.  Not sure they want to sleep on the ground anytime soon.  We went to St. Croix State Park. You spent a lot of time with them running, chasing balls, and wagon rides. We even went on a bike ride and you rode in the bike trailer with Hannah, since she had a broken arm and could not ride her own bike. We saw about a dozen deer on the ride.

Poem by Hannah

August 27, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Your cousin Hannah wrote this poem on the way to go camping with us.

H-Have you seen the Mady Shaq, the Mady Shaq?
G-It’s name after Mady, she is so cute
H-She likes to smile and swim
G-The Mady Shaq is the coolest camper ever
H-We will eat some of grandma’s fames cookie and have a lot of fun
G-We can’t wait to get to the Mady Shaq
G-The end

H was read by Hannah and G by Grandma.

Molars coming

August 25, 2006 · Leave a Comment

You haven’t been your normal self the last few days. You woke up one morning at 3am and did not want to go back to bed. Ms. Jenni says she can see 4 new molars coming in so that would explain all the fussiness.

Spoon & Spatchabula

Lately you have been obsessed with carrying around a big plastic spoon and spatula; however you pronounce it “spatchabula”. It is quite comical to hear.

Counting

August 21, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Tonight while we were finishing supper in the kitchen you were playing in the living room, when we heard “five, six, seven, nine”. You were counting all on your own. We had you start over and you went from 1 to 6 without any help. With a bit of help from Daddy, you went all the way to 13 and then jumped to seventeen. See the counting video here.

Sunday was the Target Adoption Network picnic. You got to make crafts, play games, sing & dance and you even found a glass slipper in the treasure hunt. And your goody bag had a Pooh video.
What a busy weekend.

Today we had a pool party at Mazy’s grandpa and grandma’s home. It was the August gathering of our adoption group. You got to swim in the pool with Mazy and Tyler and all of the big people. We also learned that Dave & Chris are meeting with a birth mom who hasn’t yet picked parents for her baby. You are hopeful to be getting another new friend in November.

The other day you were watching Sesame Street when the “Letter of the Day” segment came on, and even before you saw Cookie Monster who you know likes to eat the letter of the day, you yelled out “NO Cookie, NO NO”.

Rock collecting / camping

We went camping this past weekend to Kamp Dels near Waterville, MN on Lake Sakatah. There was a petting zoo, pool & waterpark. We visited the petting zoo a couple of times, but you were most intrigued with collecting rocks. Each day you filled your bucket with rocks. Most of the bigger rocks you rubbed against your shirt before putting them in the bucket so your shirt got quite dirty, and so did your shorts when you sat down on the road to examine rocks. Each night we dumped your rocks so we could use your bucket to put out the camp fire and the next morning you started collecting again.

9 words a day

August 9, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I read an article the other day that said at 18-20 months a child will learn 9 new words a day. Meaning they will understand them, but not necessarily use them in speaking. I can not keep up with every new word I hear you use, but here are some of the words and sentences over the last few days. Einstein from the show “little einsteins”, Berenstain Bears, Yes, Puzzle, Peacock, “I did it”, Ocpotus for Octopus, “Bye Count” for the count who does number of the day on Sesame Street, Upside Down, “Bye Bye Slimey” the worm on sesame street. The other day when we said do you want to take a bath you stood up, started picking up toys and said “Clean Up, Clean Up”.
