You started two new phrases that we haven’t heard before. In addition to saying “mine”, “I do”, you for the first time said “I Can’t Do It”. Usually when we give you crackers or grapes or snacks you usually say, “more” or “let me get”. Well tonight you said “that’s enough daddy”.

Another Fall
January 29, 2007 · Leave a Comment
On Sunday was Daddy and your turn to fall down the steps. I was a couple of steps ahead of you two when daddy’s feet somehow slipped out from under him. He landed on his back and slid down a few steps. As soon as he realized he was falling he pulled you close to him and in front to sort of protect you. You were unhurt but frightened. Then you said “daddy you OK”. Daddy has a bad bruise on his hip and his back will probably be sore for a few weeks, but appears to be nothing serious.
Singing & Jumping

Lately you have been doing a lot of singing. Here is a video of the latest. Also this weekend you discovered Papa’s fitness ball and how much fun it is to jump on it. Since we don’t let you jump on the bed or the couch we decided it was OK to let you bounce on the ball as long as we hold your hand and also hold the ball from rolling away.
Tantrum
January 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment
You had a bit of a tantrum tonight. This is only the 2nd one, and not as bad as the first. Not sure what triggered it other then you being tired. It seems you are extra tired on Friday nights from a hard week at school.
We almost had a donut problem this morning as Jack’s donut machine was broken and they did not have any donut holes. Luckily you were willing to try an old fashioned donut after Miss Vicki brought out your cereal. Then you finished the whole thing.
Right Turn

This morning on the way to school you said “Right turn” as we approached the first intersection which was correct. As we got to the second corner you said “Left turn” which was also correct. When we got to the 3rd corner I asked you which way and you said “Right”. I said actually it is a left turn. You responded “No Papa, it is a right turn”.
Mary

While playing today with your farm set you picked up the lamb and started singing Mary Had A Little Lamb. You sang it several times and got most of the words correct. In fact you did a lot of singing today. Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle and a few others.
Crap or crab
January 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Tonight while watching America’s Funniest Bideos as you say it, you said “his name is Tom, it’s not crap”. Or maybe you said crab, I could not tell for sure. Earlier in the evening you held your hands up to your eyes sort of in a triangle shape and said it was a clyde scope. I am guessing you meant kaleidescope which you probably learned about in school today. When daddy got home from his late meeting you said “daddy is home, come give me a hug”. Later when we put you down to sleep for the night you said “I love you guys”. Our little angel.
Ears, again!
January 11, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Today was a busy day in the way of what you said and did. So many things, I hope I have remembered them all. First of all you have been a bit under the weather for several days, being a bit cranky in the morning and not eating all that well. Although you feel warm you haven’t had a fever. This morning while getting dressed you said “my ear hurts”, which is a clue to an ear infection. We got a call from daycare this morning saying you weren’t feeling well. I called to set up a doctor appointment and then went to pick you up.
After lunch, I put you down for a nap and could hear you jumping on your bed, trying to get my attention. Then I heard you say, “jump Christmas tree, jump”. Eventually you went to sleep. When you awoke I heard you say, “papa, my ear”. I asked what about your ear and you said, “there’s a bird in my ear”, I said really, what about the other ear and you said, “there is a donkey on my ear”.
You went for your doctor appointment which confirmed the start of another ear infection.
Later in the evening after your bath you wanted to sit on the potty, which you did for about 30 minutes. While you sat we read and sang every book in the bathroom. You made up words and a tune for every book, one becoming “twinkle twinkle little man”.
I love you

Tonight while getting ready for bed you said, “Papa, I love you”.
V

The last few weeks you have been playing with your new foam bathtub letters. You pick up a D and say D for Daddy, P for Papa, M for Madison. Tonight during your bath you picked up V and said Veronica. Veronica is the daughter of David & Kyle and came to visit us last weekend.
Growing so TALL
January 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment
Each night before I go to bed I slip into your room to check on you, and lately to turn off the lights on your Christmas tree. Last night the way you were sprawled out in your bed made me realize just how much you have grown. So this morning I grabbed my sewing tape measure and tried to measure you as you were standing next to me. You are roughly 33″ tall.
Jack’s

Our recently started tradition of getting donut holes at Jack’s Bakery on Fridays continues. Usually during the week you say “Jack’s is closed”. This morning as you woke up some of the first words you said were, “Jack’s open, donut holes”. I have been telling you for a while now that donut holes are only on Friday’s so it appears that somehow you knew when you woke up today that it was Friday.
