You have started watching a new show calle Oobie, which you pronounce as Boobie.
Later in the evening you were laying on top of me on the floor and you were trying to tickle me. When I started to laugh I also started to cough and you said, “Go get nebby, we need to fix your cough.”

Sandwich

Tonight you were eating round tortilla chips and you pilled them on top of each other. When I asked you if it was a sandwich you said, “yes, it has cheese and bread and hamburger and cheese”. I did not know you knew what a sandwich even was.

You were reading a book with daddy tonight when I heard you say, “that’s not a bird, that’s a robin”.

You are getting excited to see Grandma & Grandpa who are showing up tomorrow. They are on the way home from Texas. And then on Sunday we are having brunch with some other big people, some of whom you have met a year ago. Let’s see if you remember them.
What a day!

We let you sleep in since you were sick yesterday. So daddy took you to school a little late. Then he had to pick you up early for your doctor appointment, follow up on your ear infection from a month ago. He was told you ate none of your lunch, you did not take a nap and just about got sent home for being disruptive.
Your doctor said both ear tubes are out and you have another ear infection and she thinks you might have asthma. So another rx for ears, a nebulizer and 2 prescriptions for that. Nebby as we are calling it, is a fish shaped face mask for you to breath thru 1 or 2 times a day depending on symptoms. We check ears again in a month and then decide about going back to the ear specialist to see about tubes for the 2nd time.
Ear Tube

You are home sick today, having spent most of the night coughing. This morning while playing with play-doh, you were poking at your left ear when I saw something hit the table. It was tiny and blue and turned out to be the tube from your ear. The doctor said they would eventually fall out.
As for the play-doh, you keep saying I should make a puppy dog, are you trying to tell us something?
A little while later while we were reading a book you turned to me and said, “My hair is crazy”.
Spanish

You have been picking up a few more spanish words while watching Dora. You asked for you juice and after I got it you said, “gracias” (thank-you) and then said “de nada” (you’re welcome). Pretty good for your age.
Haircut

We decided to take you for another haircut today. Your hair is getting longer, which we like, but it is a bit uneven. We asked her to just trim it and make everything the same length. Unfortunately she cut it shorter then we would have liked.
You have been playing with your toys alot lately and for longer periods of time before jumping to the next toy. You spent a fair amount of time playing with Noah’s Arc and the animals this afternoon.

On the way to school this morning we saw a couple of school buses. The first one we saw happend to be a smaller yellow van, and you said “That’s a school bus, it is tiny”. The second one we saw was regular size and you said, “That is a BIG school bus Papa”.

Today we had your school conference. You went with us since we did not want to get a baby sitter for an hour. The report card has three ratings, “Not Observed”, “Emerging”, or “Accomplished”. In the Language Section you got all accomplished and Miss Jenni comented, “Madison has allways had an incredible vocabulary and I like to see her beginning to react verbally more and less of the screaming! Way to go!”
In the Social/Emotional Development you got accomplished on “emotional development” and emerging in “social skills”. “Madison is working at those skills (cooperating, sharing & group participation). Those are areas where she struggles, but she is working hard and has come a long way.”
In Cognitive Development you got all accomplished except for emerging on “attentive during group activities” and “works independently in the classroom”. “Madison’s focus right now seems to be on fine motor & hand/eye coordination. She works so hard at writing, pouring, spooning, etc…”
In Physical Development you got accomplished in all except “walks on a beam” and “catches ball”.
In Self-Help Skills you got mostly accomplished accept for “stays seated during snacks and lunch” and “toilet training”.
During the entire conference you got out various Montessori works and then put them back when you were done with each one.
All in all a very good conference.
We are very proud of you!
More snow

We got more snow this week. We got a call on Thursday to pick you up early due to weather. Friday morning we were surprised to see that school was open, although a lot of your friends did not make it in due to the snow, about 12″ in our neighborhood.
